Verse and Hadith on Promise and Warning
Verse: Allah's Promise and Warning
Indeed, Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [their] religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that - then those are the defiantly disobedient. (Quran 24:55)
Hadith: The Prophet's Promise and Warning
The Messenger of Allah, may peace and blessings be upon him, promised his Ummah (community) with conquests that would occur after him and confirmed the promise of Allah Almighty. Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Mansur As-Sunni Al-Bayhaqi narrated on the authority of various narrators reaching back to Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri who reported that the Prophet said, "The world is sweet and green, and Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, will make you succeed in it and see how you act. So, fear Allah and be wary of women, for indeed the first trial of the Children of Israel was concerning women." (Reported by Muslim)

Hadith on Abi Ubaydah's Mission to Bahrain
Ali ibn Ziyad narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Uwais, from Isma'il ibn Ibrahim ibn 'Uqba, from Musa ibn 'Uqba, who said: Ibn Shihab reported to us that Urwa ibn az-Zubayr informed him that al-Miswar ibn Makhrama informed him that 'Amr ibn 'Awf, who had ratified the agreement of Banu 'Amir ibn Lu'ay with the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم witnessed the Battle of Badr. He informed him that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم sent Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah to Bahrain to collect its Jizyah. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was benevolent towards the people of Bahrain and appointed al-'Ala' ibn al-Hadrami over them. Abu Ubaydah arrived with Bahrain's wealth, and when the Ansar found out about his arrival, they prayed Fajr prayer with the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. When he left, they intercepted him. Upon seeing them, he smiled and said: "I presume you have heard of the arrival of Abu Ubaydah and what he has brought." They replied: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "Rejoice and hope for what pleases you. By Allah, I do not fear poverty for you, but I fear that the world will be spread out for you as it was for those before you, and you will compete for it as they did, and it will ruin you."
Hadith on Prophet's Recommendation to Avoid Worldly Pursuits
Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Ahmad ibn 'Abdan told us, from Abu al-Qasim Sulayman ibn Ahmad at-Tabarani, who said: Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Kayysan informed us, from Abu Hudhayfah, from Sufyan, from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, from Jabir, who said that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said to him: "Do you have camels?" I replied, "O Messenger of Allah, how could I have camels?" He said: "You will have them." Today, I tell my wife that we will have your camels, and she says: "Did not the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم say: 'You will have them after me, so leave them'?"

Hadith on the Opening of Yemen, Sham, and Iraq
It was narrated that Abdullah bin Zubair said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'Yemen will be opened, then some people will come bringing their families and property, but the (city) of Al-Madinah is better for them if they only knew. Then Sham will be opened, and some people will come bringing their families and property, but the city of Al-Madinah is better for them if they only knew. Then Iraq will be opened, and some people will come bringing their families and property, but the city of Al-Madinah is better for them if they only knew.'"1

Hadith Narration
Abdullah ibn al-'Ala ibn Zabr reported: I heard Busrah ibn 'Ubayd Allah saying that he heard Abu Idrees al-Khawlaani saying that he heard Auf ibn Malik al-Ashja'i saying: "I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, during the Battle of Tabuk while he was in a tent made of camel hair. He said to me: 'Prepare for six things before the Hour comes upon you: my death, the conquest of Bayt al-Maqdis, deaths among you like the deaths of sheep, abundant wealth to the extent that a man will be given one hundred dinars but will still be unhappy, fitnah (tribulation) that will not leave any Arab household untouched, a truce between you and the Banu Al-Asfar (Byzantines) which they will break, and then they will attack you under eighty banners, under each banner there will be twelve thousand men.'"
Chain of Narration
It was narrated by al-Bukhari in Sahih from al-Humaidi, from al-Walid ibn Muslim. Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz, Abu Zakariyya ibn Abi Ishaq al-Muzakki, and Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn al-Hasan al-Qadi said: We were informed by Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub, who was informed by Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Hakam, from Ibn Wahb, who narrated to me from Haramala ibn Imran al-Tujibi from Abd al-Rahman ibn Shimasa al-Muhri. He said: I heard Abu Dharr saying: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'You will conquer a land where qirat will be mentioned, so treat its people well for they have a covenant and kinship.' Hadith about the Signs of Prophethood
In this hadith, Adi ibn Hatim narrates that he was with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) when two men came and complained about poverty and lack of road safety. The Prophet then foretold that during a time of abundance, people would leave their hometowns out of luxury and perform Tawaf around the Kaaba without fear except for Allah. He also mentioned the third sign: a man will offer gold and silver but find no one to accept it. Adi confirmed witnessing this phenomenon during the reign of Khusrow bin Hurmuz.
Key Points:
- The Prophet's prediction of signs of abundance and luxury
- People leaving their homes with peace and security
- A man offering wealth with no takers
This hadith is found in Sahih Bukhari and is confirmed by Adi i.b.n Hatim, and the authenticity is further attested to by Abdullah in another book.

Hadith on the Future Events
Informed us Abu Tahir al-Faqih, Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz, Abu Zakariya ibn Abi Ishaq, and Abu Saeed ibn Abi Amr, who said: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub informed us, who in turn reported from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Hakam, who reported from Ibn Abi Fudayk, who narrated from Ibn Abi Dhi'b, from Muhajir ibn Mismar, from Amir ibn Sa'd, that he sent a message to Ibn Samura al-Adawi, meaning Jabir ibn Samura, who said: 'Tell us what you have heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.' He said: 'I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, saying: "The religion will remain upright as long as there are twelve caliphs all from the Quraysh. Then, there will emerge deceivers before the Hour. A group of Muslims will emerge extracting treasures from the White Palace: the Palace of Kisra and the family of Kisra. If Allah gives good to one of you, he should start with himself and his family. I will be waiting for you at the Fountain."' (Reported by Muslim in Sahih)
Prophecy of the End of Empires
Informed us Abu Tahir al-Faqih, who reported from Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Qattan, who was informed by Ahmad ibn Yusuf, who narrated from Abdul Razzaq, who reported from Mahrun, from Hammam ibn Munabbih, who said: 'This is what Abu Huraira told us, from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, who said: "The Kisra will perish and there will be no Kisra after him. The Caesar will perish and there will be no Caesar after him. You will spend their treasures in the cause of Allah.'" (Reported by Muslim in Sahih)

Significance of the Defeat of Caesar and Kisra
Indeed, the intention behind the demise of Caesar, who ruled over Syria, and the removal of the sovereign of Al-Aqsa from power, was confirmed by Allah Almighty in the saying of His Messenger, peace be upon him. The kingship of Al-Aqsa was removed, and the kingship of the Romans remained stable, as indicated by the Prophet’s noble saying. This continued until Allah Almighty decreed the conquest of Constantinople. The kingship of Al-Aqsa did not remain due to the tearing of its power structure, as revealed in their scriptures.
Al-Shafi’i's Perspective
Al-Shafi’i, may Allah have mercy on him, expressed his views regarding this, pointing towards the legitimacy of the caliphates of Abu Bakr and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them. The treasures of these empires were transferred to Al-Madinah; some during Abu Bakr’s time, and most during Umar’s tenure. They spent these treasures for the benefit of the Muslims. Those who utilized these treasures were granted the authority to do so, facing consequences for their actions. Success is with Allah.
Anecdote of Umar ibn al-Khattab
It is narrated that a piece of Kisra's apparel was presented to Umar ibn Al-Khattab. When Suraqah ibn Malik ibn Ju'shum delivered the items to Umar, he exclaimed, "Praise be to Allah!" upon seeing them in Suraqah's hands. Suraqah, an Arab from the tribe of Mudlij, was then praised by Umar for possessing the spoils of Kisra. Al-Shafi'i comments on how Suraqah was adorned with the apparel, similar to how the Prophet, peace be upon him, addressed him. The interaction was noted to have echoed a past event.
Additional Information
- This narration is referenced in Abi Dawud's Hadith compilation, through various lines of transmission.
- The incident involving the treasures of Caesar and Kisra was also noted in Imam Ahmed's Musnad.

Al-Shafi'i and Umar's Reaction to the Victory over Kisra
Al-Shafi'i said: "Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said when he was given the bracelets of Kisra: 'Put them on.' So he did, and Umar said, 'Say: Allahu Akbar.' He said it. Umar then said, 'Say: Alhamdulillah, the one who stripped them from Kisra ibn Hurmuz and dressed them on Suraqah ibn Ju'shum, an Arab from the Banu Mudlij tribe.'
Abu Mansur Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Muhammad al-Damghanii narrated this account originating from Bayhaq residents. Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Isma'ili included it in his compilation on behalf of his scholars. Abu Ahmad Harun bin Yusuf bin Harun bin Ziyad al-Qatti'i narrated it from Ibn Abi Umar, who narrated from Sufyan, who narrated from Ibn Abi Khalid, who narrated from Qais, who narrated from Adi bin Hatim, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Parables were presented to me as frequently as the words you speak. Surely, you will conquer them.' A man stood up and asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, the daughter of Bukaylah?' He said, 'She is for you; marry her.' Her father asked, 'Do you want to marry her?' He said, 'Yes.' The father inquired, 'For how much?' and he replied, 'Decide however you wish.' 'A thousand dirhams?' 'I have accepted.' They said to him, 'Had you asked for thirty thousand, he would have given them.' He replied, 'Is a quantity more than a thousand an option?'
Hadith Regarding Troops in Sham, Iraq, and Yemen
Abu Abd Allah al-Hafiz and Abu Saeed ibn Abi Amru reported that Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub talked about Uqbah ibn Alqamah, who narrated from Said ibn Abdul Aziz, who narrated from Mak'hul, who narrated from Abu Idrees, who narrated from al-Hawali Abdullah ibn Hawalah: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'You will muster armies: one in Sham, another in Iraq, and a third in Yemen.' I then asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, which should I join?' He replied, 'Go to Sham and join its people, and do not betray them. Allah has guaranteed to me Sham and its people.'
Abu Sa'ad Abdul Malik ibn Uthman al-Zahid narrated that Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Shaddad ibn Al-Husayn al-Sufii reported from Ja'far ibn Muhammad al-Firayabi.

Rulings of Jihad in Islam
According to a narration from Abdullah ibn Hawala, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) prophesied that armies would be dispatched to Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. He instructed to join the army in Syria and that Allah would protect the land and its people. The assurance of Allah's protection was emphasized, with a statement that God would not fail the individuals He guarantees.
The Prophet's Promise
Abu Idrees al-Khawlani reported that the Prophet Muhammad addressed concerns about poverty and scarcity, ensuring that Allah's provision would be abundant. The Prophet foretold victories in Persia, Byzantium, and Himyar, along with the division of men into three armies assigned to Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. It was also stated that a man would be given wealth but refuse it.
Futuristic Victories
Abdullah ibn Hawala inquired about the Byzantines and Romans controlling major nations. The Prophet affirmed that Allah would grant them success, appointing them as leaders until righteousness remained with them. This event was described as soldiers clad in armor, led by disheveled individuals, enforcing God's commands.

Translation of Classical Islamic Arabic Text
In those times, non-Arabs would visit a mosque and look at it, and the people around them would stand up out of respect for the mosque visitors. They would marvel at the praise of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in both him and themselves.
Narrated by Abdullah ibn Hawala: The companion of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, once stayed with us and it was conveyed to us that he was granted two hundred dates but he refused except one hundred. I said to him, "Is it fair that you were granted two hundred dates and only accepted one hundred?" He replied, "By Allah, nothing prevented me from accepting more, but it was revealed to me not to refuse, as a mother would not refuse to provide for her child. Would it not be enough for Abdullah ibn Hawala to receive one hundred dates every year?" Then, he began telling us about the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He said, "The Messenger of Allah sent us on foot around Medina to seize booty. We advanced but found nothing to seize. When the Messenger of Allah saw our tired state, he prayed, 'O Allah, do not leave them to themselves, lest they be weak. And do not place their affairs in the hands of people, lest they be humiliated. But provide for them individually.'" Then he said, "You will conquer Sham, and you will distribute the treasures of Persia and Rome. One among you will have wealth to the extent that he will receive a hundred dinars, but he will dislike it."
He then placed his hand on my head and said, "O Ibn Hawala! When you see the caliphate has come down to the Holy Land, then the earthquakes, trials, and major events have come near to people. The Hour is closer to people than my hand is to your head."
I said, "By Hour, he meant the destruction of that era - and Allah knows best. By the treasures of Persia and Rome, he meant those you find when Sham is opened, and their treasures are taken as they were found."

Hadith about the Value of Currencies
Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Iraq will decrease its 'dirham' and 'qafeez', Sham will decrease its 'mudd' and 'dinar', and Egypt will decrease its 'irdabb' and 'dinar',"
He added, “You will return to where you started from and you will return to where you started from. You will return to where you started from.” Abu Hurairah’s flesh and blood testified to this.
Yahya explained that the Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned 'qafeez' and 'dirham' before Umar placed them on the ground. This hadith is recorded in Sahih Muslim through Ubayd ibn Yaa'ish, narrated by Yahya ibn Adam.
Interpretation by Abu Ubayd al-Harawi
In this hadith, Abu Ubayd al-Harawi stated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) informed about what was yet to occur, as Allah knew it would happen. The mention of 'qafeez' is a known measurement among the people of Iraq, equivalent to eight mudds, and a mudd is a saa and a half. 'Mudd' is a known measurement among the people of Sham, equivalent to fifteen mudds. The 'irdabb' is also a known measurement in Egypt, equivalent to twenty-four saas.
Abu Ubayd al-Harawi was an Islamic scholar who excelled in Hadith, Jurisprudence, Literature, and various branches of Islamic knowledge. He was renowned for his impeccable narrations and accurate transmissions.

Interpretation of Past Knowledge by the Prophet (pbuh)
The past, as it is in the knowledge of Allah and in His informing about it, before its occurrence, indicates the affirmation of his prophethood and his satisfaction with Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) as he employed him against the disbelievers in various towns. Regarding the interpretation of "prevention" there are two aspects: One of them is that the Prophet (pbuh) knew that they would embrace Islam and that what was inflicted upon them would be lifted. The evidence for this is his statement in the hadith: "You shall return to where you started." He began them in the knowledge of Allah and what was decreed, certain that they would embrace Islam, and so they returned to their beginning. It has been said regarding his statement: "The Iraqis prevented the dirham," that they would deviate from obedience, and this interpretation is more fitting.
Reported by Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz
Sheikh (may Allah be pleased with him) interpreted this through what Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz informed us: reported by Abu Muhammad Ibn Ziyad Al-Adl, who narrated from Muhammad Ibn Ishaq Ibn Khuzaymah, who was informed by Muhammad Ibn Bashshar and Abu Musa - they said: Abdul Wahhab told us, who narrated from Saeed, who said: Bundar Ibn Iyas Al-Jurayri and they both said: Abu Nadrah reported from Jabir Ibn Abdullah, who said: The people of Iraq are about to not accept a dirham or dinar. They asked, "For what reason, Abu Abdullah?" He replied, "Due to non-Arabs." Bundar said: "From the non-Arab side." They both said, "They will prevent it." Then Haniyyah became silent for a moment and said, "Haniyyah." And then they said: "The people of Sham are about to not accept a dinar or mudi." They asked, "For what reason, Abu Abdullah?" He replied: "Due to the Romans preventing it." Then the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: "There will be a caliph in my ummah who will distribute wealth plentifully."

Key Points:
- The Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ stated that Islam would return to Medina.
- He also mentioned that a person leaving Medina out of dislike for it would be replaced by Allah with something better.
- There will come a time when groups asking for companionship with the Prophet's companions will be granted openings by Allah.
Translation:
The Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ stated, "The matter (Islam) will return to Medina just as it began. Every bit of faith will return to Medina." He also said, "A man does not leave Medina out of dislike for it, but that Allah will replace it with something better for him. People will hear of ease and provision in other places and will follow it, whereas Medina is better for them if only they knew." (Narrated by Muslim)
The Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ further mentioned, "A time will come when groups of people will go for wars, and it will be said, 'Is there any among you who has seen the companions of the Prophet?' They will be helped by Allah. Another time will come with similar events, where it will be asked, 'Is there any among you who has seen the companions of the companions of the Prophet?' They too will be helped by Allah. Then, a time will come with similar actions, where it will be said, 'Is there any among you who has seen those who saw the companions?' They will also be helped by Allah." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)

Hadith on the Virtue of Salman al-Farsi
In this hadith narrated by Salman al-Farsi, it mentions a gathering with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). During this gathering, a verse from Surah al-Jumu'ah was revealed. Among those present was Salman al-Farsi who the Prophet acknowledged and praised his faith.
Salman al-Farsi was persistent in asking questions until the Prophet praised his strong faith, stating that if faith was to be found at the Pleiades, men like Salman would attain it.
This hadith is recorded in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, highlighting the exemplary faith of Salman al-Farsi as recognized by the Prophet Muhammad.

Salman stood beside the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, as some of his companions asked: "Who are those mentioned in the Quran, 'If you turn away, [O Muhammad], he will replace you with another people; then they will be not like you'?" The Prophet pointed to Salman and said: "This is him and his people. By Him in whose hand is my soul, faith will reach the places where well-trimmed hair grows, from among the people of Persia."
Sadaqah to the Prophet
It was narrated that a sheep was gifted to the Prophet as food was scarce. He instructed his family to prepare the sheep and offered bread to crumble over it. The Prophet had a large bowl called "Al-Ghurra" carried by four men. When the companions gathered around, the Prophet kneeled and said: "What sitting is this?" He then blessed the food and urged them to eat. He assured them that Persia and Rome would open to them as long as they ate from all sides of the dish and left its edges, invoking Allah's blessings.

Hadith Narrations on the Signs of the Hour and the Romans
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz and Abu Saeed ibn Abi Amr narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Zakariya al-Sahihini, who reported from Ibn Lahia, from Harith ibn Yazid, from Abdurrahman ibn Jubayr, who said: I heard al-Mustawrid, companion of the Prophet peace be upon him, at Amr ibn al-As's place, saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him saying: "The Romans will be most hostile towards you. Their end will coincide with the Hour." Amr ibn al-As said to him, "Did I not forbid you from narrating this Hadith?" I said, "I prevented you from narrating it, so that the Muslims would not refrain from fighting. The Hadiths indicate that Constantinople was meant - and Allah knows best."
About the Mustawrid and the Hadith
The Mustawrid is Shaddad ibn Shaddad ibn Amr ibn Hasal ibn al-Adab ibn Khubeib ibn Amr ibn Shayban ibn Maharib ibn Fihr ibn Malik al-Qurashi. The Hadith was narrated by Muslim (4:2222) with two chains:
- Abdul Malik ibn Shuayb ibn Al-Laith told me, narrated by Abdullah ibn Wahb, informed by Al-Laith ibn Saad, told by Musa ibn Ali, from his father, saying: Al-Mustawrid al-Qurashi said at Amr ibn al-As's place that he heard the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him saying: "The Hour will come and the Romans will be the majority of people." Amr said, "Pay attention to what you are saying." He replied, "I say what I heard from the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him." Amr said, "If you say that, they have four characteristics: They are the most forbearing people during turmoil, the quickest to recover after a calamity, the closest to easy circumstances after hardship, and the best of them are those who support the poor, orphans, and the weak. And a fifth good quality: they prevent unjust oppression by the rulers."
- Harimla ibn Yahya al-Tajibi informed us, narrated by Abdullah ibn Wahb, informed by Abu Shareeh, that Abdul Karim ibn al-Harith told him that the Mustawrid al-Qurashi said: I heard the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him saying: "The Hour will come and the Romans will be the majority of people." When Amr ibn al-As was informed of this, he said: "What are these Hadiths attributed to you where you claim to have heard them from the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him?"
